Any semblance of possible character development is neglected, such as Jay’s rigid fanaticism for the credo and Lucy Mirando’s daddy issues. The film could have tried to say something new about the caricatures, but Bong decides to opt for the stale, tried and tested formula, except that he rehashed these in a visually brilliant package. To make matters worse, he tries to bulge his eyes out frequently to remind us of what is character is supposed to be. The most tiresome of them all is Johnny Wilcox, played by a horribly miscast Jake Gyllenhall, whose voice tries so hard to project a laughable mixture of zaniness, heinousness and servility.
SAN PRINCESS MONONOKE ENGLISH DUB TV
A notorious, avaricious capitalist (Nancy Mirando, Lucy’s sister, also played by Tilda Swinton), a zany, attention mongering TV host who barely cares about animals, a self righteous cult group, and of course, most people in the film are narcissistic sensationalists.

Okja is comprised of mostly caricatures, rather than characters, whose initial fanciness atrophies as the movie progresses.

The Animal Liberation Front(ALF), headed by an excessively polite and beta maleish Jay( Paul Dano), tries to aid her in her quest. Mija, unfazed by the circumstances, doggedly tries to retrieve Okja. Bong makes great use of the forest landscape to film Okja and Mija’s friendship, making us concerned about the possible consequences the impending separation might have on both of them. The stretches in Korea easily constitute the best portions of the film. Angered by this, Mija seeks to wrest Okja from the corporation. As luck would have it, Johnny deems Okja to be the best super pig and the corporation separates her from Mija. The film then moves to South Korea, where Mija(Ahn Seo-Hyun), an orphan, lives with her grandfather and the super pig, Okja at the hills. She announces that the super pigs would be distributed to farmers around the world and the best super pig would be determined by Johnny WilCox(Jake Gyllenhaal), an obsequious, ostentatious wildlife TV host.

Trying to erase her father’s and sister’s infamous legacy, she desperately projects a friendly and sprightly image to the public. Lucy Mirando( Tilda Swinton), a narcissistic, flamboyant woman who heads the Mirando Corporation, unveils a genetically modified super pig that leaves a lower carbon footprint on the environment. The satirical part, however, fizzles out due to poor characterization and a muddled philosophy. The action scenes continue to be marvellously choreographed, the best of which consists of a comical high octane action sequence at Seoul. A two-pronged attack against non vegetarianism, Bong’s new film tries to be in the same vein as his previous film, Snowpiercer, an eclectic mix of satire and hardcore action through an uncomfortable dialectic. Okja, Bong Joon Ho’s second Hollywood venture, is certainly an example of the above. But an average film, not necessarily a badly made film, might do the contrary, as it could isolate the deniers further with it’s condescending approach and dubious philosophy. A mainstream film’s power to amass a large audience might help to educate people and strengthen the conservation efforts.
